Over the past six years, CFRT has experienced dramatic growth across every program: summer camps have grown by 45%, studio classes by 89%, and mainstage attendance increased 20%. As we look to the future of live arts to Fayetteville and Cumberland County, it is clear that With More Space, We Will Serve More People.

As we look to the future of live arts in Fayetteville and Cumberland County, it is clear that With More Space, We Will Serve More People. The Act 2 Expansion creates new, dynamic spaces for live performance, education programs, staff, and artists!
The Thorp Theatre
Named for Founding Artistic Director Bo Thorp and her husband Herbert by Clay Thorp & Laura Francis-Thorp and Holden & Patti Thorp. Fully renovated during Act 1 of the Captial Campaign in 2021, The Thorp Theatre will remain intact during the Act 2 construction, preserving the signature intimacy, new seating, and custom sound system that has been so enjoyed by audiences over the past three years.
The Grand Lobby
Featuring an enhanced customer experience, the grand lobby will feature a central bar* serving coffee by day and concessions and bar service during performances. With soaring ceilings, generous seating areas, and a second-floor mezzanine, the grand lobby will be open to the community during the day for book club meetings, coffee dates, study groups, or bridge clubs. For parents with students enrolled in our studio classes, the lobby provides a comfortable place to wait and enjoy complimentary wifi during class!

The Studios
The Studios create space for our rapidly growing education programs including studio classes, day camps, summer camps, and more! These highly flexible spaces can be set up for small performances and feature specialized flooring and acoustical features to make them ideal for all kinds of rehearsals!
The Rooftop
The Rooftop* creates an open-air experience with live music and other special events, craft cocktails, and elevated food service. Whether extending your evening after a show or attending a jazz trio or night of comedy, the rooftop will be an extension of the great art and performance you know and love on the mainstage. The Rooftop will also be available for private events, with an estimated capacity of 100 people, the rooftop will be an elegant venue for bridal or engagement events, corporate cultivation, or military promotions!

Artist & Staff Experience
Did you know that the shows you see are designed exclusively for CFRT and then built and rehearsed from scratch right here in Fayetteville? For the artists and staff who bring great stories to life at the theatre, the Act 2 renovation has been designed to streamline their workflow and create better accessibility throughout the building. We’re doubling the square footage of our scene shop, re-designing and expanding our costume shop, modernizing our aging dressing rooms and green room, and adding elevators to create ease around the movement of costumes and equipment.
